Overview

SimVentions, consistently recognized as one of Virginia’s Best Places to Work, is seeking a skilled Mid-Level Software Developer to provide software engineering support for our Navy customer. The ideal candidate will have expertise in C++ programming and Linux and will contribute to software development in a dynamic Agile environment, working on high-impact projects related to Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with both SimVentions and government personnel in a collaborative, dynamic environment and plays an integral role in designing, coding, testing, and integrating complex software systems. Position is seated on site in Dahlgren, Virginia 5 days a week.

An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in software engineering or computer science.
  • 5 years of experience in areas of software development to include software design, analysis, testing, documentation, and experience and/or ability to code in the following: in C++; C #; Simu-Link; JAVA; Python.
  • Experience developing software to communicate with other hardware using TCP/IP, UDP, and serial communications.
  • Experience developing real-time system and subsystem level software products, databases (Oracle, MSAccess, etc), and knowledge or experience with operating systems (LINUX and MS Windows) and interfaces.
  • Proficiency with C++ programming language.
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Understanding of language-specific frameworks and libraries.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency of Git (branching, merging, pull requests, etc.).
  • Proficiency in writing unit tests and using various testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with debugging tools and pipelines.
  • Experience in code reviews and peer collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, provide high quality services and products, while meeting strict deadlines and time constraints.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams, collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Active Secret Clearance and U.S. Citizenship required for eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide software development support in an Agile environment.
  • Perform software coding and unit testing of SKCS software configuration items.
  • Code in a Unix/Linux environment using object-oriented software design and practices.
  • Read, understand, and provide comments on requirements.
  • Work within SKCS Government led development team to support all the above to complete periodic, incremental SKCS software builds including updates to requirements, design, code, test and formal reviews.
  • Support SKCS subsystem integration testing with AN/SLQ-32 (V)6, AN/SLQ-32 (V)7, Aegis and Ship Self Defense System Combat System Baseline; generate test reports, metrics and performance analysis, and reporting/analysis of trouble reports, and verification of previously resolved trouble reports.
  • Utilize Google Test to support unit testing.
  • Provide SKCS technical support to POR integration and test events; coordinate SKCS integration and testing with PORs.
  • Provide EW subject matter expertise and systems engineering to maintain SKCS design alignment with EW programs of record and combat systems.
  • Ensure that the Git Repository is managed in accordance with the SKCS SW repository management process.
  • Communicate results effectively during meetings and through written reports.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Electronic Warfare subject matter knowledge and expertise.

Education

Bachelor or higher degree from an accredited university in software engineering or computer science.

Compensation

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

 

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $105,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
